CATANA Z: A HALF-SISTER TO THE INTERNATIONAL SHOWJUMPERS ZETA DE HUS, DON’T TOUCH AND BONITO

Through the veins of Catana Z, performance blood of several top horses of studfarm Zangersheide is running. Let’s start with Catana Z’s sire, Crown Z. Crown Z’s sire, Carthago, performed for many years at the highest level, including the participation at the Atlanta and Sydney Olympic Games. Carthago enjoys a very good reputation as a supplier of international showjumpers. Crown Z’s dam, Ratina Z, was one of the best showjumpers of the 20th century. Ratina Z won the Aachen Grand Prix, the golden team medal and the individual silver medal during the Olympic Games in Barcelona, etcetera. Crown Z performed at international four- and five-star level, in partnership with Judy-Ann Melchior and Christian Ahlmann. Catana Z has valuable performance blood of some stallions - bred by Zangersheide-founder Léon N. Melchior - not only in her sire line, but also in her dam line. We are talking about Ahorn Z and Athlet Z. Catana Z’s dam, Atlanta Z, is a grand-daughter of Athlet Z out of Asta (by Ahorn Z). Ahorn Z ameliorated the breeding of showjumpers in Holstein. He is the dam’s sire of several famous stallions, such as Concerto II, Lux Z, Lordanos and Indorado. Athlet Z also put his stamp on the breeding of showjumpers in Holstein. He sired several outstanding international showjumpers, such as Athletico (Ludger Beerbaum), Athlet (Willi Melliger) and the Olympic horse Montreal (Wim Schröder). Atlanta Z’s business card belongs to showjumping at the highest level. She gave birth to Zeta de Hus (for many years one of Keven Staut’s best horses), Bonito Z (ninth place at the Beijng Olympic Games, under the saddle of Camila Mazza Smit), Don’t Touch Z (David Wilken) and Calvina Z (Fernando Rodriguez Esparza).
