On the occasion of Valentine’s Day, on February 14th, lovers buy presents for each other. During the ‘Sustainable City International Show Jumping’ they organize on that special day a unique auction, the ‘Horseman Elite Auction Dubai’. In total, 21 embryos will be sold. Embryos that are the result of crossing top progenitors with the best Belgian dam lines.
We all know that sires put their stamp on the pedigree of showjumpers. More than the half of the offered embryos has a progenitor as sire who belongs to the top 100 of the most recent WBFSH-sire ranking. Chacco-Blue who is undoubtedly leading this ranking, sired two of the 21 presented embryos. That’s a unique opportunity. Several other embryos are sired by progenitors belonging to the top 100, amongst them Toulon (nr. 4 in the ranking), Qlassic Bois Margot (23), Zirocco Blue (30), Heartbreaker, Ogano Sitte, Emerald van ’t Ruytershof, Bamako de Muze and Conthargos. One will also sell two embryos by the outstanding international showjumper Tobago Z and two by Warrant. In the collection we also discover embryos sired by Cornado II, ASB Conquistador, All Star 5, Armitages Boy and Echo van ’t Spieveld.
Each expert will confirm that the dam(line) is at least even important as the sire(line). Some performance families are dominating the breeding of top showjumpers. You can find a ranking of those families on the website Hippomundo.com. Almost each family in the top of this ranking is represented in the dam lines of the embryos of the ‘Horseman Elite Auction Dubai’. It’s remarkable that the foundation dams can be found in the first generations in the pedigrees of the embryos, and not in for instance the sixth or seventh generation.
Several top dam lines are represented in the auction’s collection, such as the dam line of Usha van ’t Roosakker, Narcotique de Muze II (the Qerly Chin lineage), Coriana van Klapscheut, Quasibelle du Seigneur and Fa-Belle van ‘t Roosakker (both go back to the famous La Belle van Sombeke), Granie (the grandmother of Cicero van Paemel Z, a supplier of excellent showjumpers), Secret Love Wonderland (the performance family of great showjumpers, amongst them Jade, Estina, Holland and Dulf Van Den Bisschop) and Nelke van het Waterschoot (the performance family of showjumpers, such as Upsilon de la Linière, Glasgow de Muze, Costa Rica and Lorelei VH Waterschoot). Several dams of the presented embryos performed at the highest level, amongst them Kismet 50 (5*, 1m60, Candice S. King and Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum), Fortuna Forever (1m50, Lorenzo de Luca) and Souvenir van de Heffinck (1m55, Harrie Theeuwes).
